Electroplating Bristol
Doug Taylor Metal Finishing Co are a family-run business, established in 1981 and providing comprehensive services for Electroplating Bristol.
The business was started by Doug Taylor himself, a keen chemist with a passion for Electroplating and Polishing, and there are now three generations of the Taylor family involved in the business.
Electroplating for Bristol customers
Bristol is about 20 miles from our workshop in Banwell, near Weston-super-Mare, and all of the plating is done there. You are welcome to drop items in by arrangement (call 01934 820 454, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm), or post them to us and we will send them back by insured courier.
Chrome is only one of the finishes we offer. If you are restoring fittings in one of Bristol's Victorian or Edwardian houses, nickel plating is often the more authentic choice, because nickel was widely used on door furniture, taps and light fittings before chrome plating arrived in the late 1920s. Silver and gold suit cutlery, jewellery and trophies, zinc protects steel nuts, bolts and brackets from rust, and copper can be a finish in its own right as well as the first layer under chrome.
If you want to know how the process itself works, from stripping and preparation through to the plating tanks, our electroplating page explains it step by step.
Services we offer:
- Decorative Chrome
- Nickel (Bright or Sateen)
- Copper (Bright)
- Gold 22 Carat
- Silver
- Zinc - Clear or Coloured
- Sandblasting
- Chemical Stripping
- Metal Polishing
We are specialists for vintage/classic cars, motorcycle and marine enthusiasts. We also offer steel polishing and sandblasting services and our large plating tanks can take items of up to 7ft 6 inches.
