Electroplating Oxford

Doug Taylor Metal Finishing Co are a family-run business, established in 1981 and providing comprehensive services for Electroplating Oxford.

The business was started by Doug Taylor himself, a keen chemist with a passion for Electroplating and Polishing, and there are now three generations of the Taylor family involved in the business.

Electroplating for Oxford customers

Oxford is about 95 miles from our workshop near Weston-super-Mare, so items usually come to us by insured courier and are returned the same way once they have been inspected and wrapped.

Before chrome arrived in the late 1920s, the bright finish on door furniture, taps and fittings in houses like North Oxford's Victorian villas was usually nickel. If you are restoring a period house, nickel plating is often the more authentic choice, in bright or sateen (brushed) finishes.

Our main electroplating page covers how the process works and which metals we plate.

Services we offer:

We are specialists for vintage/classic cars, motorcycle and marine enthusiasts. We also offer steel polishing and sandblasting services and our large plating tanks can take items of up to 7ft 6 inches.

How do I move forward?

We recommend firstly either emailing or using our contact form to send pictures of the job you are interested in having restored. Please include any additional information you may feel helpful i.e sizes, weight, finish required.

We will aim to get back to you as soon as possible with a budgetary estimate and timescale.

If you are happy to proceed, post the job into us along with your contact details and we will notify you on receipt. Or simply drop the job into us, where we can confirm all details.

When we have completed the job we will securely send all the items back to you.
