Silver Plating Birmingham
Doug Taylor Metal Finishing Co are a family-run business, established in 1981 and providing comprehensive services for Silver Plating Birmingham. The business was started by Doug Taylor himself, a keen chemist who began Silver Plating in 1958, and there are now three generations of the Taylor family involved in the business.
All of our silver plating Birmingham works are carried-out to British Standards, and we incorporate additional inspection points at each element of the silver plating process to ensure that the end result provides the best possible finish that the metal part will allow. Everything is checked whilst wrapped to ensure the item is of the highest quality before being sent out or collected. We will handle everything from single items to larger volumes, subject to required turnaround times.
Process for Silver Plating Birmingham
All of our silver plating Birmingham are carried-out in house, using modern processing plant capable of providing the highest quality silver plating services to meet the varied demands of both trade and private customers.
There are no extra charges for double-plating, because the transformation process (strip – polish – copper – silver) is to British Standards, so is included within our pricing. This process naturally takes longer to undertake but ensures a good finish at every stage of the silver plating process.
It also allows us to undertake silver plating for item sizes from household items right down to intricate items such as cufflinks and earrings, eliminating the chances of any single item being lost. We can handle single items up to combined maximum dimensions of 20in (50cm) long, 18in (45cm) wide and 16in (40cm) deep.
We are proud to retain to this day a traditional silver plating process where every item is hand-wired. Our manual process also achieves a thicker finish, ultimately improving the end quality and depth of the silver finish.
Components we can Silver Plate
The list is endless as to what we have silver plated in the past ranging from larger items – Trophies, Mascots, Headlight Reflectors and small Motorcycle parts to the smaller items like Rings and Cufflinks that the owners just wanted to give a new lease of life to. We can do everything – If you are unsure whether you can plate your item, just give us a call and we can provide the answers. Below are examples of the types of components we have plated for customers. This list is not exhaustive:
Is any Preparation Work needed by the Customer?
No, generally you can supply your item to us in its current condition and we will undertake all preparations (strip and polish) before undergoing the transformation process. The only exception would be if we have to manually remove heavy paint layers or lacquers from the metal you send to us, in which case a small extra charge would apply to the stripping process. All details of this will be included in the quotation we provide to you before commencing work.
Are there any items that are not suitable for Silver Plating?
Items that are made from Pewter or Stainless Steel cannot be silver-plated.
